Motor Excellence Exceeds Expectations, Expands Operations

ACA Grantee in Flagstaff Opens 13,000-sq.-ft. Manufacturing Facility

Flagstaff, AZ (May 19, 2011) – When Motor Excellence, an innovative clean technology company in Flagstaff designing high efficiency electric motors, received a $962,000 grant from the 21st Century Grant Program coordinated by the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) in 2009, it hired five new workers the next day. The grant program is designed to utilize federal stimulus funds to invest in and promote energy efficient and renewable energy products manufactured in Arizona.

Motor Excellence planned to leverage the grant funding to grow from its then 5,000-square-foot facility into an additional 13,000-square-foot manufacturing facility by 2011, and from 19 to 70 total employees by the end of 2013. This month, the Company’s headcount is already 40 with plans to reach 70 total employees by year-end 2011, two full years ahead of schedule.

Arizona Daily Sun – Larry Hendricks – May 19, 2011

Welcome to Bike to Work Week — the easy way. My experiment in biking to work one day during Bike to Work Week was made possible by the folks at Motor Excellence in Flagstaff. They provided me with an e-bike prototype for the day. “If we want to get more people on bicycles instead of riding in cars, they need incentive to do it,” said Marty Mares, president of the e-bike division of Motor Excellence. Aside from being good for the environment, an e-bike makes the commute to work an experience that doesn’t require so much physical exertion and makes biking available for all ages.
