With over 21 years experience as a technology incubator and technology commercialization manager, Tom served in senior management positions leading business development initiatives all around the United States.  Prior to Motor Excellence, Tom served as President of the Northern Arizona Center for Emerging Technologies (NACET). Tom was also the developer and manager of NAU Ventures, Northern Arizona University’s Technology Transfer program.

From 2002 to 2007 Tom was Developer and President of the Vermont Center for Emerging Technologies in Burlington and also served as lead consultant on the development of technology incubator programs at Dartmouth College, the State of New Hampshire, and University of Wisconsin.

As Director of the Florida/NASA Business Incubation Centers (1998–2000) Tom managed a nationally recognized technology incubator program designed to assist entrepreneurs associated with the Kennedy Space Center and managed the development of a network of six technology incubators around Florida. The NASA incubation program assisted over 25 businesses resulting in the licensing of seven NASA technologies.

From 1993 – 1998 Tom served as the Director of the St. Louis Enterprise Centers in St. Louis, Missouri and developed a network of five incubator facilities  serving over 60 new businesses.  Tom was also the Director of a NASA Technology Transfer Center linking businesses with NASA and federal laboratories.  From 1989 to 1992 Tom served as the Executive Director of the California Central Coast World Trade Center based in Ventura County.

Tom holds a Master’s Degree in Science and Technology Policy (March 1988) from Lund University, Sweden; a Graduate Degree in Social Sciences, (June 1986) from the University of Stockholm, Sweden, and a B.S. in Political Science (August 1985) from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.

Throughout his career, Tom actively raised early-stage seed capital for start-up companies and raised over $40 million in Federal funding to date.
